Suicide By Stupidity

It's the middle of the night, and you've been fast asleep. Your family is fast asleep. Hell, even the birds are fast asleep. Not a creature stirring...

...until you are blasted awake by the sound of your front door's being battered down, and all kinds of screaming and yelling, some of which, you realize, is the panicked screams of your family! Your home is being invaded! There are gangbangers in your house and they're going to kill you and your family! Unless you do something rightfuckingnow!

And you do something. You grab your legally registered gun and fire it, hoping it will scare them off, while one of the kids calls 911 for help.

Unfortunately, the gangbangers are not gangbangers. The home invaders are not home invaders. They're cops. With a no-knock warrant. And they've got the wrong address. All a mistake. Oops. Sorry. Uh...wait a minute...

...one of our cops is dead.

And now you're under arrest for murder.

Isn't this a fun country?

Pretty much the same down here. I have NO sympathy for the cops in these cases when they invade the wrong home and the homeowner has to defend home and family.

Apparently a big trend in some places now is home invaders break into homes shouting they are cops to keep the homeowners off guard, becasue of course, you don't want to shoot at cops since they are the "good guys", aren't they?

Sometimes it works out the other way around. The police raid a home and some innocent person is killed by them:

Dez, I saw that article linked over at Hobbit's blog.

What really, really really bites my ass is all the "justification" that goes on after one of these tragedies in which civilians are forced to go up against the machine, only to lose, because they cannot win --because the rules do not allow them to win. Makes me wonder why there aren't more armed insurrections against the governments. We do have the bastards outnumbered, after all!

I work for a PD, and even I think it's bullshit that this guy is being charged. You barge into someone's house in the dead of night, expect to get shot. Barge into my house in the wee small hours, you will definitely get shot, multiple times with multiple weapons, till I can't reload. I don't care if the intruder is yelling "Police" or not. If I'm not seeing ID or police uniforms, I'm going to keep pulling the trigger. These cowboys need to get their facts, names, and addresses straight and do their homework before the go making the "dynamic entry".
